Liz Blume, executive director of the Community Building Institute, will lead a presentation and discussion of the proposed Xavier Square project this Thursday at the Norwood Community Center, , at 7:30 PM.
The presentation will center around the mix of uses, the project timeline and the impact it will have on the surrounding community.
A question and answer session will follow.
The event is free and open to the public.
The 20-acre Xavier Square project, which is a joint venture between Xavier University and the Corporex Companies, would be built at (BIRD'S EYE) and include:
* 120,000 square feet of office space
* 100,000 square feet of retail space
* A 90-room boutique hotel
* 550-600 student apartments
* 120 market-rate housing units
* A university recreation center, bookstore and health center
The project site was once the home of BASF, destroyed in an explosion and fire in 1990; and --> --> -->Zumbiel Packaging --> --> -->, which moved to Hebron in 2004.
The Community Building Institute is a partnership between Xavier University and the United Way of Greater Cincinnati that seeks to bring residents, local organizations and institutions together to foster comprehensive community development.

This looks like a cool project. They need to work on their website, though (need correct links to bigger sketches).
Agreed 100%. Especially since they're trying to raise money - the sketches don't show very much. Maybe they haven't been finalized?
