Cause of death: Pure neglect. The front porch and roof were falling off, windows were missing, the left side wall was bulging and the chimney was collapsing. Bricks fell off the chimney and hit the neighbor's dog. The City condemned this building in May 2006. After the owners were a no-show for the pre-prosecution hearings, the City decided not to pursue criminal charges because the owners were in Florida, and they would be "wasting their time". It was declared a public nuisance in August 2007. The house was razed by the City.
LESSON: If you want to avoid responsibility for a blighted building, just leave the City for a while.
