Two public open houses will be held this week to present the conceptual alternatives study for the Brent Spence Bridge project.
Sponsored by the --> --> --> and the --> --> -->, project team members will be on hand to provide illustrations of the alternatives still under consideration, which include two plans for a new double-decked bridge to be built 120 feet west of the current bridge.
Both alternatives could cause the loss of homes in Covington's Lewisburg Historic District and near the Western Hills Viaduct, and Goebel Park, Longworth Hall, and Queensgate Playfield could also be in danger.
Open houses will be held at the following locations:
- May 6: Gardens of Park Hills Vista Room, , Park Hills, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
- May 7: Lincoln Recreation Center, , Cincinnati, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Alternatives will be on display starting at 5:30 p.m., followed by a presentation of recommendations at 6 p.m. and public testimony at 6:30 p.m.
Last year, council passed a motion asking for the elimination of the "Queensgate Alternative" because of significant economic losses it would cause to Queensgate businesses.

The alternatives have pretty much already been widdled down to nothing and it seems that the powers at be have their minds made up. This public involvement process is really nothing more than lip service. This thing is happening the way it's shown no matter what the public has to say. The worst thing about it is that they'll be a bunch more concrete and steel going over our river and clogging up our valuable riverfront.
That is the most f# up looking thing I ever saw.
Why don't they route everyone around 275 and build the monster bridge they want between Indiana and Kentucky?
That proposal makes no sense at all.
