Urban Conservator hearings today on 24 properties; 18 buildings declared a public nuisance

The City of Cincinnati's Urban Conservator, Larry Harris, will hold a public hearing today at 9 A.M., Centennial Two, , Suite 720, to determine the historic significance of 24 buildings that have been condemned and/or declared a public nuisance and entered into the City's hazard abatement program.

All of the following buildings are more than 50 years old and subject to review under Section 1101-57.1(1) of the Cincinnati Municipal Code:

  • , Mount Lookout (single-family, 1928)
  • , North Fairmount (single-family, 1900)
  • , Hartwell (single-family, 1905)
  • , Evanston (three-family, 1895)
  • , Roselawn (multi-family, 1947)
  • , Evanston (three-family, 1900)
  • , East Price Hill (two-family, 1925)
  • , Avondale (two-family, 1938)
  • , Northside (single-family, 1890)
  • , East Price Hill (single-family, 1897)
  • , Avondale (two-family, 1910)
  • , Avondale (three-family, 1900)
  • , Mount Auburn (single-family, 1912)
  • , Avondale (single-family, 1904)
  • , Mount Auburn (two-family, 1883)
  • , Walnut Hills (single-family, 1875)
  • , Spring Grove Village (two-family, 1895)
  • , Clifton (single-family, 1928)
  • , Avondale (nursing home/hospital, 1963)
  • , Madisonville (single-family, 1905)
  • , Spring Grove Village (single-family, 1917)
Anyone with pertinent information or evidence of any of these buildings' historic significance is encouraged to testify. A finding of historic significance can prevent a building from being demolished.


Public nuisances declared

Following public hearings held June 28 by the Department of Community Development, Property Maintenance Code Enforcement, the following 18 buildings have been declared a public nuisance:

  • , Riverside (two-family, 1895)
  • , Walnut Hills (single-family, 1927)
  • , Millvale (three-family, 1915) (razed)
  • , Millvale (single-family, 1915)
  • , East Price Hill (single-family, 1897)
  • , East Price Hill (single-family, 1897)
  • , Mount Auburn (two-family, 1880)
  • , Avondale (two-family, 1888)
  • , Avondale (multi-family, 1963)
  • , East Price Hill (single-family, 1885)
A public nuisance declaration subjects these buildings to demolition by governmental action, pending historic review, the awarding of bids, and the issuance of permits.
