First of all, I want to thank all of you for being loyal readers. I do this for you, and I greatly appreciate the urban community that's been built around this hyperlocal news site.
Now to business...I do this by myself, and it's an arduous task. And, although I do get some money through advertising, the website hasn't grown quite enough to cover my expenses or my fabulous way of life.
So this month, I'm taking a page from the PBS and NPR playbook and starting a pledge drive. Well, no one's going to break into my writing and make you feel bad for not contributing. But I DO want to offer you something:
- For a $10 donation through PayPal, I will send you a Building Cincinnati bumper sticker.
- For a $25 donation through PayPal, I will send you a Building Cincinnati coffee mug.
- For a $50 donation through PayPal, I will send you a Building Cincinnati T-shirt depicting the construction of the Great American Tower at Queen City Square, available in black, cardinal, navy, military green, royal blue, or charcoal (please specify what size).
- For a Donation of $100 or more through PayPal, I will send you the bumper sticker, mug, and T-shirt (again, please specify the size and color desired).
When contributing, please include your mailing address. This information is only for order fulfillment and will not be shared with anyone.
If requesting a T-shirt, please include the size (S-XL) and color preference. Sizes larger than XL will require an additional $3.
Proceeds from this pledge drive will be used for a website redesign and migration to Wordpress, for which I already have a consultant; possibly a new computer, which is nearing five years of age and is on its last legs; a new camera; a new photo host, because Photobucket has made some significant changes that no one likes (like deleting more than 4,000 photo descriptions during its switchover). Funding will also be used for hosting, travel expenses, and possible new writers.
Thank you again to all of you, and I appreciate you supporting this six-year-long experiment in local media. And if you have any comments, tips, or other information regarding this site, please e-mail me at .
I look forward to continuing to serve you!
Kevin
