Cincinnati City Council could vote today on a proposed streetcar system linking Downtown with Over-the-Rhine, and eventually with Uptown.
A special Finance Committee meeting has been called for 9 AM in council chambers, Room 300 of .
The Finance Committee on Monday tabled a motion by Councilmember Chris Bortz that would state the City's intention to begin building the streetcar system using the City administration's recommended financing plan.
The motion would also compel the City to explore at least two alternate financing plans for Phase 1B, the Uptown link, should federal funding not come through.
The committee will also consider a competing motion from Councilmembers Qualls and Cranley calling for a first phase Downtown circulator with a link to Uptown.
A full council session will follow at 2 PM, where the proposals could come up for a vote.
Early estimates are that the majority of council members are in favor of some form of streetcar system.
