Following up on a resolution it passed on June 3, Cincinnati City Council has made the appropriation of 16 parcels for the $68 million Waldvogel Viaduct replacement official via an ordinance.
The --> --> --> had requested that the right-of-way through the nearly five acres of property be cleared by August 20.
Major construction is scheduled to begin next spring on the two-year project, which will replace the existing, poorly-rated and load-restricted structure with an at-grade roadway and five new ramp bridges.
River Road, , also will be upgraded to current City safety standards. Council approved an ordinance to enter an agreement with Hamilton County for $500,000 in county Municipal Road Fund program funding for the project two weeks ago.
A $6 million first phase, the relocation of four railroad tracks south of River Road, is already underway.
The City's Department of Transportation and Engineering has secured $59.2 in state, federal, and City capital funding for the project.
More than 50,000 motorists pass through the Waldvogel Viaduct/River Road corridor daily.
