Work on the $664 million --> --> -->I-75 Mill Creek Expressway Project --> --> --> began last week with removal of brush and debris around the in Camp Washington.

Also over the past week, nightly lane closures have allowed workers from Great Lakes Construction Company to prepare the Monmouth Street overpass for demolition.

The $7.2 million phase 2 of the reconstruction project will rebuild the overpass – allowing it to serve as a local through street between Colerain Avenue and Central Parkway – and remove the existing Bates Avenue and pedestrian overpasses.

Work on the new Monmouth Street overpass will be completed by the end of September, with the entire phase wrapping up on August 31, 2011.

Phases 1 and 3, reconstruction of the Mitchell Avenue and I-74/Colerain/Beekman interchanges, are scheduled to begin next year.

The ten-year I-75 Mill Creek Expressway Project includes the rehabilitation of eight miles of interstate between Paddock Road and the Western Hills Viaduct, including the addition of a single lane in each direction. Interchanges will be rebuilt at Hopple Street, I-74, Colerain/Beekman, Mitchell Avenue, the Norwood Lateral, and Paddock Road.

"This project will do more than improve the freeway system," said District 8 Deputy Director Hans Jundal. "It will modernize a vital link in our state's growing transportation system unlocking the potential for further economic development, freight movements and new jobs."
